Random Ramblings

It's been awhile since I last posted something..I've been a little busy.. So I thought I would try and condense the month for everyone.

First and Foremost: we were FINALLY able to get antibiotics for Griffin. This was a huge victory for us. He was put on a 2 week dose and as soon as he took the first dose he felt better. We are now done the 2 weeks and he seems to be ok, I still got to keep an eye on him to make sure we don't have to go back on antibiotics.. Oh the joys..

We went camping for the first time as a family this May. I will actually be doing a seperate post on that later...let's just say I'm not a camper!

The weather here hasn't been great either and I am noticing that people are not very happy. I don't know if it is because of the weather or if it's just getting to the end of school and everyone is tired..God kows I am..

June is a crazy busy month for us and it appears that this year will be as well. Virginia's softball team has made the Districts and they have games all this coming weekend. I am so proud of her! She tries hard every game, she might not be the best, but she has the best attitude! Griffin is wrapping up ball hockey and his team will be in the playoffs. Let's hope they make it to the finals!! He is also playing so well in softball. He loves playing sports! And my little Landon is finishing up Preschool. I am crushed.. I have been taking kids to preschool for 7 straight years and I am so sad that part of my life is over. I now am the mom of school aged kids...

And lastly: The Vancouver Canuks got kicked out of the playoffs by the Chicago Blackhawks..This was a disaster for our city..It hasn't been pretty...But at least the Blackhawks are now fighting to win the Stanley Cup and there are lots of BC boys on the team, so since we can't cheer for the disappointing Canucks....GO BLACKHAWKS GO!!

Public Service Announcement

I normally don't get on a soapbox too much, but I'm pissed. That's putting it mildly. I live in a wonderful country, Canada, and we have universal health care which is generally pretty good. But when I go to the doctor and tell her that something is wrong with my child, I want the proper medication to make him better. That being said, I should start at the beginning. 2 weeks ago my daughter had a cross county race up at the local lake/camp ground. Somehow my wonderful little boy Griffin (check previous post about him) got bit by a tick. It took me about 24 hours to figure it out though and then I had to take the darn thing out. Kudos to Griffin though, he never screamed while I was yanking it out of his head. Anyways off to the doctor we go with the tick in a baggie. The tick gets sent off for testing and I'm told to watch for fever or a bull's eye rash. Now, the biggest disease a tick can carry is Lyme Disease. If you treat it with antibiotics right away then your chances of it becoming worse are eliminated. So, here I am with the tick and I am given nothing. I go to another doctor and I am told that Lyme Disease is rare in our part of the Country so they won't treat him unless it comes back that the tick had it. We are now playing the waiting game. What will happen first: the results back or that Griffin will get a rash. We got the results back first and the tick was female but they couldn't test it for Lyme Disease because it was dead when I brought it in. They still won't give Griffin anything for it because he isn't showing enough symtoms and because he is only 7. no need to put him through a round of antibiotics if they don't have to. He could just end up with a horrible disease for the rest of his life! So now I am turning to other means to get him treated. We might have to go to the States and get him tested which will cost us lots of money or I'm looking into Naturalpathy, which will also cost us money. I'm so very disappointed in our medical system for failing my child. He very well might be lucky and not have Lyme Disease but there is too much doubt in my mind. He needs to be treated! So, in case any of you ever get bit by a tick, please go to a doctor right away, let them take the tick out so it can be tested properly.

Some Symtoms of Lyme:
Headache, sore joints, dizziness, vomiting, fever, bull's eye rash anywhere on your body, not just at the location of bite. Lyme very often mimics MS, and Lupus.

My Boy Griffin

This is my boy Griffin. He is sneaky, stubborn and very opinionated...But he is also loving, sweet and today is his 7th birthday! Griffin was born to be active. I have never met a child with as much energy as him. When he was a baby I called him the Energizer Bunny, cause he kept on going and going and going.....

Griffin loves sports, doesn't matter what kind of sports, as along as it can be called a sport! Right now he is playing softball and ball hockey. In the fall he will play ice hockey. Though he has said that he wants to play football and soccer as well. I think he forgets that I have other children as well and can't afford all the sports he wants to play! It's hard to buy him gifts because all he wants are soccer balls, hockey nets, basketball hoops, etc.... He doesn't really play with toys!

He is my middle child and he makes sure he gets his fill of attention! Just last week he decided to write his name and number on the back of his white Canucks jersey with a blue marker.....It wasn't one of his better days....

All in all though, he is a prety cute kid and I can't believe he is 7 already! Happy Birthday Griffin!!

A cold person's prayer

Dear Mother Nature,

I realize that we are doing things that piss you off, but really do we need snow in April? Do we need 90 km winds that knock the power out and make the children miss school? You have made your point, you are more powerful than us mere humans..... I will teach my children to respect you in every way, just please bring back the warm sun.......Pease,I am begging...I can't feel my toes anymore when I step outside.....

Sincerly,
The cold one

The Dog

This is Cooper. My cute, cuddly dog. What breed is he, you ask? He is a Jack Russell/Whippet. Think super hyper with alot of speed, and that's my dog! This picture was taken shortly after we got him ,but he hasn't changed much. Just picture him taller and leaner. He still had all his puppy pudge there! What can I tell you about my wonderful dog: he likes to dump the garbage can when it's full so I have a kitchen full of garbage. He likes to eat my underwear, yes I admit it. My dog eats my underwear, he has even figured how to get into my hamper to find the underwear. (I guess that would be the hunting part of him.) I have had to buy more underwear in the last 18 months than I have in the last 12 years! Did I mention that I love my dog?? Actually he is really cute and he loves to snuggle under blankets with you at night, it's just the crap he does during the day that makes me want to pull my hair out! I'm sure I will be posting more about my dog, but I thought I'd give you a preview....

New to Blogging

Hello,

I 'm new to this whole blogging thing....Hopefully someone, somewhere will find it entertaining... A little bit about myself, I am a mom to 3 little people. Actually, my daughter is almost as tall as me now so I guess she's not really a little person anymore.. My kids are 9, almost 7 and 4 and they seem to run my life..... I named my blog Crazy mom to 3 because I am alway running somewhere for someone and as my girlfriend likes to point out to me when I'm complaining about driving everywhere, I never say no. I get stuck being team manager or some other job to do with my kids activites that makes life just a little bit crazier! I should mention that there is a crazy dad attached to all of this as well, but he works and just shakes his head everytime he looks at the calendar...It's easier that way.... We also have a cat and a dog and an International student to round out our house. It's never quiet here, but I wouldn't want it any other way! So hopefully I will have some interesting stories to tell and be able to share a few laughs...let the journey begin!
